Hello Karen, could you tell us a little about yourself and what made you start blogging?
Hello, I am an Administrative Assistant for the Mechanical Engineering Department at our local University. I live in the U.S. I am a mother of three grown children, a grandmother to two and a third one on the way. I was going into my final year of my college career, working on my bachelor’s degree in English last year and decided I wanted something to do in the evenings to keep me busy and my mind busy. I will graduate May 20, 2018. I am an avid reader, reading up to ~5 books a week, and I decided to start my blog so that I could write reviews on books that I read. I read a few different genre’s and I don’t mix my Face Book page with my reading. I enjoy romance of most types, thrillers/mysteries, and crime stories. I figured I could combine my enjoyment of reading with reviewing the books and I contacted an author of a book I had just completed and told her I was interested in blogging and reviewing. She put me on the right track and I started my blog. She has become a friend and supporter.
How long have you been blogging (when you first set up your blog)
I started my blog last June 2017 and have been going at it for almost a year now.
When did you start joining Blog Tours and why?
I started doing the blog tours a few months into starting my blog. I enjoy being a part of helping to get the word out about an author or a book. I especially like to introduce a new author to readers. I have found a lot of new to me authors by doing the blog tours.
Do you join blog tours for a lot of publishers? Not a lot. About how many?
Joffe is one of the few publishers I have done blog tours for. I am a member of several blogger/review groups though.
What do you think of the books Joffe publish are they usually good, average, bad?
I have read a few authors published by Joffe and have not found a bad book yet. I have enjoyed all of the books that I have read and reviewed.
Joffe Books is run differently to other publishers is the short notice of book releases a problem given how much in demand bloggers are?
I have no problem with the short notice for these tours. If I am not busy, I am always willing to join in and help. If I am busy, as I have been the past month finishing my class up so that I can graduate, I will not volunteer to help.
Some Bloggers leave room for Joffe Books are you one of those?
Not consciously. If so why? I love the DI Mariner series and will always do a tour for Chris Collett’s series, as long as I have the time to read and review in the time given.
Joffe Books has a launch team that get together in a virtual party setting and many of the authors support each other and chat with the readers and bloggers. Do you think this is a good idea? If so why?
I do think it’s a great idea. It’s nice that they can get together and chat about the books that are being published, read, and blogged about.
Have you ever gone to a Joffe Launch Party?
No, I have not. I was unaware of them.
Is there anything else you would like to say about Joffe Books, their authors or Social Media Promoter?
I have enjoyed working with Jill Burkinshaw and Joffe Books, I look forward to more tours with both. Jill is always very helpful and communicative.
