FOR SOME, LIFE CAN BE MURDER
When the police are unable to find a body, they are forced to dismiss a homeless veteran’s claim that he witnessed a homicide. But after he is found murdered in the same spot two days later, DI Bliss and the Major Crime Unit set their sights on catching a ruthless killer.
Elsewhere, when the daughter of a cuckooed family is reported to have attempted suicide, Jimmy Bliss and DC Penny Chandler have their doubts and vow to uncover the truth. But the situation is about to get much worse, and violence is certain to erupt on the city streets.
In his final two investigations before retiring from the police force, Bliss undergoes a desperate search for answers. Answers that prove to be as elusive as the identities of the men making so many people’s lives a complete misery. But with his colleagues every bit as determined to bring these people to justice, the team use all of their experience and insight to uncover the one lead they need to make a breakthrough in both cases…
“This is a triumph of a book, well written and beautifully plotted.”
“Wow! Just when you think this series can’t get any better, Tony produces this cracker.”
“A clear 5 star read from me, as if it was ever in doubt. I’d give it more stars if I could.”
“Easily one of my books of the year.”
“Another brilliant thing about the Bliss books is they keep getting better. I’m pleased to say that yet again Tony has knocked it out the park, and can say without any doubt this is his best yet.”
“As always this is well written with a great storyline…”
“Some great twists and turns made this a real page turner.”
Reviews for other works in the DI Bliss series:
“The author is hugely talented and ranks, in my opinion, with the likes of Peter James and Val McDermid.” Maggie James – bestselling author
“Just a word of warning – prepare to be in tears, on the edge of your seat and gobsmacked in equal measure. A triumph!” Liz Mistry – bestselling author
“Brilliantly written and a fascinating read that, in my opinion, could happily stand shoulder to shoulder with works from the likes of Rankin and Connelly.” Steve Robb – BookieWookie blogsite
Detective Bliss is back in his last week before retirement but if he is expecting to wind down with a nice easy last week he is going to be disappointed.
He is enjoying some time with Molly and Max when a call comes in and so begins a week from hell as the team struggle to find a way forward with 2 of the hardest cases they have had to handle. Surely Bliss wont walk away and leave the cases unsolved but time is running out and the end is nowhere in sight.
Another absolutely gripping addition to a brilliant series. Clues and red herrings come and go, many suspects but no evidence. Lies and secrets this book has it all. I really had absolutely no idea how it was going to end but the ending when it arrived was so shocking I was stunned. Definitely a roller coaster of a read.
Well written as always with the right balance of personal and detective I like how the characters evolve over time and their lives change.
I was slightly annoyed at the way the book ended leaving teasers so now I cant wait for the next book.
A brilliant read as always.
Thank you to the author for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book. This is my unbiased review.
