FOR SOME, LIFE CAN BE MURDER

When the police are unable to find a body, they are forced to dismiss a homeless veteran’s claim that he witnessed a homicide. But after he is found murdered in the same spot two days later, DI Bliss and the Major Crime Unit set their sights on catching a ruthless killer.

Elsewhere, when the daughter of a cuckooed family is reported to have attempted suicide, Jimmy Bliss and DC Penny Chandler have their doubts and vow to uncover the truth. But the situation is about to get much worse, and violence is certain to erupt on the city streets.

In his final two investigations before retiring from the police force, Bliss undergoes a desperate search for answers. Answers that prove to be as elusive as the identities of the men making so many people’s lives a complete misery. But with his colleagues every bit as determined to bring these people to justice, the team use all of their experience and insight to uncover the one lead they need to make a breakthrough in both cases…

My Review

Detective Bliss is back in his last week before retirement but if he is expecting to wind down with a nice easy last week he is going to be disappointed.

He is enjoying some time with Molly and Max when a call comes in and so begins a week from hell as the team struggle to find a way forward with 2 of the hardest cases they have had to handle.  Surely Bliss wont walk away and leave the cases unsolved but time is running out and the end is nowhere in sight.

Another absolutely gripping addition to a brilliant series.  Clues and red herrings come and go,  many suspects but no evidence.  Lies and secrets this book has it all.  I really had absolutely no idea how it was going to end but the ending when it arrived was so shocking I was stunned.  Definitely a roller coaster of a read.

Well written as always with the right balance of personal and detective I like how the characters evolve over time and their lives change.

I was slightly annoyed at the way the book ended leaving teasers so now I cant wait for the next book.

A brilliant read as always.

Thank you to the author for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book.  This is my unbiased review.
