MEET THE DETECTIVE
Detective Inspector Siv Drummond is widowed following a tragic accident involving her husband. With everything in London reminding her of the past, she moves from a high-profile squad with the Met to a new job as DI in her old hometown — sleepy, seaside Berminster. She’s still grieving and lonely, but she’s a fighter and she’s smart, which earns her the respect of her colleagues DS Ali Carlin and DC Patrick Hill, and the grudging approval of her DCI, who wants his protégé to get her job.
My Review
Siv Drummond is back in this stunning addition to the series. While this is book 3 they do work perfectly as stand alone.
A body is left on the steps of the crematorium, no ID and nobody seems to have missed him. However, a young man is missing but it would be too easy for it to be the same man and nothing for Siv Drummond’s team.
Henry, the missing man, and his friends are spending a few days in a cottage owned by his family. The fact the group are not based here is just one problem of many for the team. The other problems include a number of secrets being kept hidden.
Filled to the brim with suspense this story is a roller coaster ride of twists and turns as Siv and her team try to uncover the motive behind the murder and at the same time try to find the missing man.
The characters continue to develop and their background fleshes out nicely over the course of the book. Siv is still grieving for her dead fiance, Ed, and working through her grief and trying to move on with her life ads interest to the story. Other aspects of the characters in this series are also brought in to the story.
This story has it all great characters that are well drawn, intrigue, secrets, drugs, revenge, guilt and relationships all play a part in gripping read that keeps the pages turning.

Gretta Mulrooney was born in London of Irish parents and did an English degree in Derry. She has been published for over twenty-five years; children’s books, short stories, literary fiction which won critical acclaim and crime fiction. She has also written for the BBC and Radio Four.
Gretta has always been an avid reader of crime fiction and decided, in retirement, to turn to crime. She has written seven novels featuring a London based private detective, Tyrone Swift: She has also started a new police-based series featuring DI Siv Drummond, set in the fictional Sussex town of Berminster.
