Linda Strong Book Reviews
Joy Ellis is one of those authors that’s easy to attach to. Her writing is superb, the characters are credible, and the story line is filled with suspense and lots of twists and turns before reaching an explosive ending. Read more here

Oh my giddy aunt, ‘Fire On The Fens’ is one heck of a sometimes haunting read, especially for someone (me) who has a fear of fire. That said, I did pick up this book at an ideal time for me. I was feeling very down in the dumps for one reason or another, my anxiety had increased and my chronic back pain was playing up. Boy oh boy, literally as soon as I picked up this book all of the previous issues were suddenly forgotten as I became seriously addicted to reading ‘Fire On The Fens’. Read more here
Joanna Larum’s Reviews
Every time Joy Ellis brings out a new book, I can’t wait to read it and each one is better than the previous one. I don’t know how she does it but after thinking the last book couldn’t get any better, the new one has scaled even higher peaks and is absolutely riveting. Don’t pick it up if you’ve got an appointment to keep and don’t expect to sleep or eat until you have finished it! Read more here
Nicki’s Book Blog
This book seemed to have that extra “bite”, that extra twist to the others and may even be a little bit longer in length. A brilliant plot, an easy read (albeit one or two very short descriptions of the victims) and as ever a little humour along the way. Another excellent book from Joy Ellis. Read more here

There are is nothing linking anything to start with in the book, which made guessing who did it and why that much harder. Even when I was sure I knew there were still some red herrings and twists that I was left doubting my reasoning all the way through until the end.
Overall it was a brilliant read which I thoroughly enjoyed and would recommend. Read more here
Nicki’s Life of Crime
This is a gripping thriller packed with twists and turns and red herrings that definitely keep the reader guessing although I did figure out one of the major twists quite early in the story. My favourite parts of the story where the gripping and intreguing parts covering the investigation into the identity and motives of the mysterious arsonist. The authors descriptions of some of the fires especially the final fire where so realistic and chilling,i had goosebumps whilst I was reading them. Donna’s Book Blog
The pace in this book was brilliant and I loved how the suspense built up towards the end. It is very well written and I was guessing which way the story was going to go more than once. I love the characters anyway but they were just as good as always in this book and it is a very enjoyable story. Read more here
On the Shelf Reviews
I wasn’t quite sure what to make of Nikki in the last book but she has really grown on me, I can see a really caring yet compassionate character. Another stand out in this book for me was PC Yvonne Collins, a smart and intuitive police woman but she’s about to retire, leaving a bit of gap in the team. Also eagle-eyed fans of Joy Ellis’ Jackman and Evans series will be thrilled to see a little guest appearance from profiler Laura Archer. Read more here

Who is burning with anger, and can Nikki stop them before anyone else dies?
Full of twists and turns, this is a crime thriller that will keep you turning the pages until the heart-stopping ending.
This is book 9 of the international best-selling books featuring Nikki Galena.
THE DETECTIVE
DI Nikki Galena: A police detective with nothing left to lose, she’s seen a girl die in her arms and her own family destroyed. She’s tough on criminals but fiercely loyal to her team.
HER PARTNER
DS Joseph Easter is the squeaky-clean member of the team. But his nickname “Holy Joe” belies his former life as a soldier. He has a daughter and an ex-wife who wants his attention.
THE SETTING
The Lincolnshire Fens: great open skies brood over marshes, farmland, and nature reserves. It is not easy terrain for the Fenland Constabulary to police, due to the distances between some of the remote fen villages, the dangerous and often misty lanes, and the poor telephone coverage. There are still villages where the oldest residents have never set foot outside their own farmland and a visit to the nearest town is a major event. But it has a strange airy beauty to it, and above it all are the biggest skies you’ve ever seen.

“I was born in Kent but spent most of my working life in London and Surrey. I was an apprentice florist to Constance Spry Ltd, a prestigious Mayfair shop that throughout the sixties and seventies teemed with both royalty and ‘real’ celebrities. What an eye-opener for a working-class kid from the Garden of England! I swore then, probably whilst I was scrubbing the floor or making the tea, that I would have a shop of my own one day. It took until the early eighties, but I did it. Sadly the recession wiped us out, and I embarked on a series of weird and wonderful jobs; the last one being a bookshop manager. Surrounded by books all day, getting to order whatever you liked, and being paid for it! Oh bliss!
And now I live in a village in the Lincolnshire Fens with my partner, Jacqueline, and our two second generation Springer spaniels. I had been writing mysteries for years but never had the time to take it seriously. Now I can, and as my partner is a highly decorated retired police officer; my choice of genre was suddenly clear. I have set my crime thrillers here in the misty fens because I sincerely love the remoteness and airy beauty of the marshlands. This area is steeped in superstitions and lends itself so well to murder!”
