Nearby stands a small, thin woman. In her hand is a kitchen knife. But what is bricked up behind the wall is far, far worse.

A motorcycle courier jumps a red light and is mown down by an oncoming car. Killed on impact. Detectives Paterson and Clocks arrive at the scene. Large plastic boxes are scattered around the body. The detectives take a closer look: it’s one of the worst things they’ve ever seen. And they’ve seen some very bad things.

THEIR LAST WORDS
The book starts with a gruesome murder and zooms along at a very fast pace with plenty of action and insight into the characters along the way. Very human characters and Steve has skillfully managed to build curve balls into the characters as well as the story. The end result is an adrenaline pumping page-turner that I couldn’t put down.
THE LOST CHILDREN
What we have here is a complex story with many strands and the reader is taken on a rocky road trip to watch all the strands become entangled with Paterson and Clocks working their way through the spaghetti to find out what is actually going on. Corruption, witchcraft, cover ups and money laundering are just a few we can add politics and culture into the mix and sprinkle a vigilante soldier on top and you can be assured you have one hell of a wonderful read.
THE BURNING MEN
The story begins with a man being burned alive. He is soon revealed to be the son of a gangster and so begins a war to gain control of the London underworld. Paterson and Clocks are not amused and set out to bring an end to the violence by whatever means they see fit. Humour, corruption, drugs, violence, twists, turns and curve balls this book has it all. An absolutely brilliant read that ticked all my boxes.
YOU CAN’T HIDE
The story begins as they board a plane to New York chasing Albert Tanner following a turf war in book 3. Clocks had me laughing before he had got off the plane. They arrive at JFK airport and the action starts with a chase followed by explosions. It is game on and everyone is in danger. Will they catch Tanner or lose their lives? This is an absolutely gripping read that I couldn’t put down.
THEIR DYING BREATH
The story begins with a body found on the banks of the Thames. It appears the man was buried up to his neck and left to watch the tide come in until he drowned. Then the airwaves are taken over by a live feed of a man in a box and the team is in a race against time, literally, to try to find where the box is buried before it is too late. This is an absolutely awesome read it is a while since I have enjoyed a book so much. It probably isn’t for the faint hearted but if you are a reader that likes adrenaline pumping suspense from the first page to the last then this book is definitely for you.
CHILD BEHIND THE WALL
A burglary is reported and the Police attending stumble into a horrific scene which they certainly weren’t expecting but when Paterson and Clocks arrive they find the devastation in the bedroom is not the only horror to be found in the house. The investigation takes the team many miles as they try to work out what is behind the manic behaviour. An absolutely gripping read that had me turning the pages all the way to the adrenaline pumping ending.
HIS MOTHER’S BONES
A gruesome murder is just the tip of the iceberg as more bodies turn up murdered by very weird and barbaric methods will this dynamic duo be able to find out what links the cases? An absolutely stunning read that I couldn’t put down additional interest is brought in to the mix which adds another dimension to what is already an outstanding book
DEAD ON DELIVERY
The fun and mayhem begins with the death of a Motorcycle Courier who was transporting organs for transplantation when he dies in a RTA and Paterson and Clocks are called in when it becomes clear there are more body parts than there should be. It soon becomes clear there is an organ trafficking ring at large. As the investigation gets under way it soon becomes clear that what our favourite detectives are uncovering is so much more than just people selling a kidney here and there. As the 2 men set off for France they leave a trail of mayhem behind them for someone else to deal with. From France to India and back to France they will not stop until they catch the sadistic murderers who are preying on the desperate. Another adrenaline pumping read.
