It is always exciting when you find out one of your favourite authors has a new book published but this is especially exciting because this was written 20 years ago and has never before been published. It is different to her current series’ but in a very good way. It certainly made me think outside the box.
Ellie is injured in a car accident and as she regains consciousness it soon becomes clear that she has developed a special talent – she is able to see auras around people. However, this ‘gift’ will need work if she is to use it effectively and that is where the great Carol Cavendish- Meyer and her friend Michael step up.
The story is adrenaline pumping as the suspense builds from the very beginning and as the suspense builds so do the characters. Totally different and unique each and every one of them, from the ghostly Vera to the memorable Stubbs. The main theme is definitely crime and detective based but it has so much more, family dynamics, historic abuse, evilness, spookiness and love all play a part in this absolutely mind blowing read. As for the murderer – well!!! Mind blowing just absolutely mind blowing.
A book that had me gripped from the very beginning, realistic and different and considering it was written 2 decades ago it still works for me.
Definitely a 5 star read.
