My Review
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Chloe is still reeling after Mark left her following years of emotional abuse she has little self-confidence and the future is looking bleak. Then she finds she has inherited a property in Bermuda with a business. Seeing a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel she packs her bags and sets off for ‘Paradise Island’,
Is it all too good to be true?
Soon after arrival Chloe finds that there is a vast amount of work to do if she is going to make a living from the Stables which is on the verge of going under. On a ride out to explore the island she finds a body, it is obvious he has been murdered. Not exactly the peaceful life she had envisaged but Chloe refuses to be beaten.
This is a gripping read with plenty going on and I loved every minute I spent reading it. A crime book but with so much more. Murder, jealousy, revenge, hope, determination and secrets all have a part to play in this book. Lots of twists and turns and shocks along the way to keep the adrenaline pumping. I especially liked the author’s afterword with explanations of the areas mentioned in the book.
The characters are realistic and develop well as the story progresses. I love Chloe I think many women who have been in a controlling relationship will identify with her. Antoine also fits very well as a caring man with a deep love for the horses under his care. I wasn’t sure about Jonas and Melissa but they grew on me and again fit the story.
Overall an absolutely stunning read that I thoroughly enjoyed from the first page to the last and I highly recommend it. 5 stars from me.
