My Review

This is a stand alone thriller by the brilliant TJ Brearton that many Crime Fiction readers will enjoy.

Jane and John are struggling through day to day life as many couples do.  Life is not perfect and they have their arguments but on the whole they are happy.  John is a struggling author and Jane is a nurse practitioner.

Life is carrying on when a face from John’s past arrives on the doorstep.  From that point their lives start unravelling.  Jane returns from work in the early hours of a morning to find the children alone and John is missing.

Where did he go and why?  The Police suspect Jane and she is left with little choice than to do her own investigating to try to find out where her husband has gone and prove her innocence.

John is a troubled character.  He had a difficult childhood and is a recovering alcoholic.  Jane is stronger but also has a troubled past.  They are realistic characters and their history adds to their personalities to create complex people that the reader gets to know along the course of the book.

There are many twists and turns along the course of the story.  The book does slow down a little around the middle but I would encourage readers to bear with it as it does pick up significantly a bit further on.

An enjoyable read.

T. J. Brearton Author Bio

I started out wanting to make movies. My brother and sister were my first stars. After attending the New York Film Academy, I worked in showbiz for a little while and wrote my own screenplays. I always wrote prose fiction, too, and before I knew it, I had more books than movie gigs. Hey — Ridley Scott says writing novels and directing films are the “same thing”, and this way, I get to stay home.

I’ve had a lot of jobs. Construction, bartending, waiting tables — even weird things like cleaning tombstones and working for a non-profit. I’m fortunate to now write full time. And I’m lucky to have had my books hit the top 30 on Amazon Kindle US.

My fifteen novels are below. More coming soon. Thanks again, and please keep reading because without you I’m just a guy sitting alone in his basement..
