Fiona Cummins: Rattle

RattleRattle by Fiona Cummins

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was provided with a free copy of this book by Netgalley in return for an honest review.

This is a psychological thriller and is the first book I have read by Fiona Cummings.

My biggest gripe is the format. I am not sure how the published version will differ but the Kindle version I received was all out of sync. I had the ‘Rattle’ title and ‘Fiona Cummings’ appearing half way down a page and the sentences didn’t fit on the page making the spacing all over the place. I tried different fonts and sizes but it didn’t make it any more readable. There were also many typos

It was a very interesting insight into Stone Man Syndrome which is a condition I hadn’t been aware of prior to reading this book. The story itself is a very good one although not really unique it was very similar to several psychological thrillers I have read and I found it very long winded in places with large sections of descriptive text that I speed read through. The ending was a carbon copy of many thrillers.

Even after reading the whole book I still didn’t feel I knew the characters they were a bit flaky for me.

That said it was a decent read and I kept turning the pages it just fell a little short of the mark for me. My actual score is 3.6 .
