My Review
I have read and loved the previous books by this author. They all had a spiritual twist and I know this one was different so I was intrigued to see how he would approach a psychological thriller. I wasn’t disappointed this is a brilliant read.
The story covers 2 different time periods but focusses on the same characters. Characters that we meet as adults and then learn more about their backgrounds as we go back in time to their teenage years. All the characters are realistic as is the story.
Callum is Danny’s older brother and is a psychopath in the true sense of the word. Danny has been bullied by Callum all his life but things take a turn for the worse when their Dad dies in an accident. Danny was very close to his Dad and is devastated but the effect on their mother, Rose is worse and long lasting. Danny is the one who cares and looks after her but Callum is the perfect son in her eyes. Rose only sees the good side of Callum whereas Danny is subjected to all that is bad in him.
Danny and his friends go their separate ways after they finish school as they each try to deal with the memories of a traumatic event. 9 years after that event the boys meet to try to prevent history repeating itself but this is at great personal cost to each of them.
I love the complex characters and the totally unique story that is interlaced with adrenaline pumping suspense all the way through making for a gripping page-turner.
Although different to his previous books Mark has, again, written a brilliant book full of twists and turns all the way to the jaw-droppingly shocking epilogue.
WOW 5 stars from me and I cant wait to see what Mark writes next.

Mark lives in a small village in the lovely county of Cumbria, although his books are set in Oxfordshire where he was born and raised.
