Linda Strong Book Reviews

This is a well written crime thriller with lots of action beginning with the very first page. The suspense maintains a solid pace until the very end. There is a slight cliffhanger involved, just enough to whet the reader’s appetite for more.   Read more here

Joanna Larum’s Reviews

Paterson and Clocks are met at the airport by a series of explosions which bring the American Homeland security into the book as they work to rid their country of terrorism. The FBI also join in, so Clocks and Tanner have to follow other security services’ rules, which doesn’t suit them at all. Read more here

The Word is Out

Clocks and Paterson make a great team. There is a lot of humorous banter between the two, making the book fun at the same time as tacking deadly serious crimes. It’s not surprising that the events of the first three stories have shaped Paterson and Clocks into the men they are now, and this story expands on that further. If you haven’t, I urge you to read the rest of the series first. Read more here

‘You Can’t Hide’ is superbly written but then I wouldn’t expect anything else from Steve Parker.  He certainly knows how to grab your attention from the start and he dangles enough bait in front of your nose to ensure that you keep on reading. Read more here

I thought it a solid storyline and with the drama expected from Patterson and Clocks. I thought the characters were that fully developed and of a depth you can almost think you know them as real people. I loved the humour of Clock’s, the down to earth, working class officer who has seen it all and done it all! Read more here

The book starts with a nice bang as they land in America and from there the action soon picks up at an alarming pace and never really settles back down.  Read more here

You Can’t Hide (Ray Paterson #4)

Available from AMAZON

Discover a crime thriller full of shocking twists by one of the most exciting new authors you’ll read this year.

YOU CAN RUN BUT YOU CAN’T HIDE. YOU CAN NEVER HIDE.

Albert Tanner, vicious psychopath and burner of men, is in the USA with unfinished business.

Detective Superintendent Ray Paterson and Detective Inspector Johnny Clocks must find him first.

Their task is straightforward: hunt Tanner down and bring him home. But a few explosions, an assassin and a dead child changes everything.

Dragged into a sordid world of high class sex parties they discover an Albert Tanner they never knew existed.

Then a child is snatched from her own bed and Tanner wants to do a deal. And the price is far too high.

Paterson and Clocks realise they have no choice but to hunt Tanner down their own way.

A RACE-AGAINST-TIME THRILLER WHICH WILL KEEP YOU TOTALLY ADDICTED.

This is the fourth in a series of action-packed, edge-of-your-seat crime thrillers, with an ending that will have your heart in your mouth.

Perfect for fans of Kimberley Chambers, Damien Boyd, Rachel Abbott, Patricia Gibney or Martina Cole.

What readers are saying about STEVE PARKER’S BOOKS

“A must read for all crime thriller fans.” Viv

“A fast-moving action-packed thriller which will keep you enthralled from page one.”

“Another gripping, fast-paced and twisted caper for the most unorthodox police duo in UK fiction.” Donna

“Loved the book, Clocks makes me laugh out loud.” Aileen

Detective Superintendent Ray Paterson is a young and (thanks to family money) wealthy womaniser, separated from his model wife and tipped to be the youngest ever commissioner of police. He knows he’s weak when it comes to practical policing and struggles to find a place among his peers, desperate to be a good policeman and not just a ‘climber’.

Detective Inspector Johnny Clocks is a foul-mouthed, working-class officer. He grew up surrounded by rogues and villains to become a first-class thief taker with the Met police. However, his childish attitude has short-circuited his career and he spends his days antagonising as many people as he can.

My Review

Paterson and Clocks are back so settle down and be ready for an adrenaline pumping read.

This is book 4 and although the books work as stand-alone you will enjoy it more if you read them in sequence. Unique characters and engaging story lines with twists and turns all the way through make for an intense page turner that I highly recommend for readers who like dark thrillers.

Paterson is a wealthy upper class Detective Superintendent who rose through the ranks via a fast track system. Clocks in contrast is a working class Londoner who has made detective by climbing the ranks as a result of hard work. In book one the two clashed each resenting the other Clocks thought Paterson a ‘posh git’ and Paterson thought Clocks uncouth and tactless. They have developed their relationship from resenting each other to a very effective working partnership each having the other’s back 100%.

The story begins as they board a plane to New York chasing Albert Tanner following a turf war in book 3. Clocks had me laughing before he had got off the plane. They arrive at JFK airport and the action starts with a chase followed by explosions. It is game on and everyone is in danger.

Will they catch Tanner or lose their lives? You will have to read the book to find out. What I can tell you is that this is an absolutely gripping read that I couldn’t put down and I doubt you will be able to either.

Author Bio

I was born and raised in South East London (Peckham to be precise – cushty, my son). At the ripe old age of twenty-one, I joined the Metropolitan Police where I served for twenty years before I was pensioned out with a serious back injury. I then went to work as an enforcement officer for a local authority before taking redundancy.

Thankfully, I’ve been blessed with a complete lack of DIY skills so was legitimately able to get away with swanning around the house doing bugger all, all day long. Finding myself with plenty of spare time and a deep desire to never work for anyone again, I gave myself permission to go back to writing (I’d been writing on and off for years).

When I’m not writing, I’m out taking photographs, something I’ve done since I was a nipper and will do until the day I shuffle off this mortal coil.

I live down in the windier part of East Sussex near the sea with my long-suffering wife and my ‘off-her-nut’ cockerpoo. I have two sons of whom I am so proud, I cannot begin to tell you.
