My Review

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I love the Kim Stone series. I purchased this on pre-order as soon as it became available and have been waiting for a space to read it. I didn’t expect it to disappoint and it didn’t. Well worth the 5 stars.

Young girls are going missing and turn up as dead prostitutes and what has an abandoned baby got to do with it? This is a complex case or cases and it is down to Kim to connect all the dots. There are many who believe prostitute’s don’t matter but that doesn’t apply to Kim Stone and her team. Kim is always ready to fight a corner for the underdog and this is no different. Despite the fact that skeletons from Kim’s past are being dragged out into the open all that has to be put aside to bring down the pimps and abusers in this case.

This book sees the return of some characters from previous books as we learn more about them and the team. I was very pleased to learn more about Dawson and his hidden character. A very thoughtful conscientious young man who puts his own relationship at risk to do what he feels is right. I also liked to see Stacey getting over her issues and making steps back to normal. I love the diverse mix of characters in this series.

There are many twists and turns as the team try to connect the dots. A lot of different issues come to the front in this book with people trafficking, abuse and corruption all playing an important role. there are many strands and false leads that lead towards a jaw dropping ending but it doesn’t end there there is even more to offer from this brilliant book.

It can be read as stand alone but I really recommend reading these books in sequence as people and events from previous books reappear in places and it may marr the enjoyment to not have the background.

Definitely a gripping, unputdownable 5 star read and I can’t wait for book 8.
