BOOK REVIEW: The Missing Girls by Carol E Wyer

The Missing Girls (DI Robyn Carter, #3)The Missing Girls by Carol E. Wyer

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is book 3 in the Robyn Carter series but work very well as stand-alone.

Girls are going missing/turning up dead and the team are struggling to find a link. When another girl goes missing the race is on to join up the dots before another body turns up.

I downloaded this book from Netgalley some time ago but due to commitments I had to shelve it half way through. Maybe it is the gap, maybe it is because I have read so many astounding books this year but I felt this one didn’t quite give me the buzz I was hoping for.

Robyn is a well defined character who has developed over the course of the series. All the characters are robust and work well some we like and some we don’t so there is a realistic mix of people.

The story progresses at a steady pace. Unfortunately I worked out the unsub quite early on so the ‘unexpected twist’ was not forthcoming. That said it is a good read that will appeal to readers of crime fiction and police procedurals.
