My Review

My rating 4.2 out of 5 Stars

This is Book 2 in the Booker and Cash Series.  I haven’t read book 1 and therefore I could have missed some of the character building that we usually see in the first book of a series.  Not having read Book 1 makes this review a little more difficult as I don’t want to spoil the reading of either book.

Jo is an ex policewoman and has fallen on hard times following incidents in the first book.  She has lost her job with the Police and is trying to make a living as a PI while lodging with David.  She comes across as a high maintenance character who is milking the situation with David.  She is struggling with the monotony of basic investigative work so when a more interesting case comes her way she grabs it with both hands.

David has found himself in a wealthy situation as the result of a tragedy and is reworking his life back in Romney Marsh by opening a Coffee shop with a difference while trying not to step on other business’s toes.  He is a amiable character who is eager to please.

David and Jo have a strange relationship that should be romantic but isn’t.  Jo drags David into her new case and he goes along out of a sense of indebtedness and a desire to protect Jo from harm.

It is an intriguing story that goes off on many tangents with a lot of entangled relationships thrown into the mix resulting in a  very good read.  I found the book a bit slow going although the pace does pick up about half way through and the suspense builds from there right to the end to keep the reader turning pages.

Thank you to Bloodhound Books for the ARC of this book.

Author Bio:

Oliver Tidy was born and bred on Romney Marsh, Kent. After a fairly aimless foray into adulthood and a number of unfulfilling jobs he went back to education and qualified as a primary school teacher.

A few years of having the life sucked out of him in the classroom encouraged Oliver abroad to teach English as a foreign language. The lifestyle provided him the time and opportunity to try his hand at writing.

Oliver’s success as a self-published author has led to his Booker & Cash series of books, which are set mainly on Romney Marsh, being signed by Bloodhound Books.

Oliver is now back living on Romney Marsh and writing full time.
